Advanced Dengue Surveillance Geographic Information System (GIS) Application Workshop

BANDUNG, SITH.ITB.AC.ID – Kegiatan workshop dengan tema “Advanced Dengue Surveillance Geographic Information System (GIS) Application” merupakan rangkaian kegiatan dari kerjasama penelitian New Southbound Policy: Taiwan – Indonesia Dengue Control and Prevention Programantara Sekolah Ilmu dan Teknologi Hayati (SITH) ITB dengan National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) Taiwan, juga melibatkan Dinas Kesehatan Kota Bandung dan Center for Disease Controland Prevention (CDC) Taiwan. Workshop ini diikuti  oleh perwakilan dari Kemenkes RI, Balitbangkes RI, Dinas Kesehatan kota Bandung, Fakultas Kedokteran UNPAD dan SITH ITB. Materi workshop diberikan oleh Dr. Ta-Chien Chan dari Institute of Humanities & Social Science, Academia Sinica. Dikarenakan dalam kondisi pandemi COVID-19, workshop dilakukan secara virtual selama 4 (empat) hari, setiap hari Selasa dan Sabtu yang dimulai pada tanggal 1-12 September 2020. Workshop berlangsung dari jam 08.00-16.00 WIB atau 09.00-17.00 UTC.

Pembukaan rangkaian workshop ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 1 September 2020. Sambutan diberikan oleh Dr. Chin-Hui Yang, selaku Division Director of Acute Infectious Disease, CDC Taiwan. Dilanjutkan oleh Dr. Endah Sulistyawati, selaku Dekan Sekolah Ilmu dan Teknologi Hayati (SITH) ITB dan Prof. Wu-Chun Tu, selaku Ketua Proyek Penelitian Kolaborasi dari National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) Taiwan. Hari pertama diawali dengan review secara singkat mengenai QGIS dan dilanjutkan dengan materi Spatial Autocorrelation/ Spation-temporal Cluster. Hari kedua diisi dengan materi Spatial Regression/ Geographically Weighted Regression dan Spatial Database/ Network Analysis/ Interpolation. Hari ketiga diawali dengan materi Geoprocessing Tool/ Analysis Tool/ Research Tool dan dilanjutkan dengan materi Interactive Disease Map. Workshop di hari keempat diisi dengan materi Spatio-temporal Modelling dan dilanjutkan dengan sesi presentasi dan diskusi, kemudian masuk pada sesi penutupan oleh Prof. Wu-Chun Tu selaku Ketua Proyek Penelitian Kolaborasi dari National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) Taiwan dan Prof. Intan Ahmad, Ph.D, selaku Ketua Proyek Penelitian Kolaborasi dari Sekolah Ilmu dan Teknologi Hayati (SITH) ITB.

Kegiatan workshop ini akan berakhir pada tanggal 12 September 2020; dengan berakhirnya kegiatan workshop ini, diharapkan dapat meningkatkan wawasan dan skills dalam pemanfaatan penggunaan Geographic Information System (GIS) untuk surveilans penyakit demam berdarah yang disebarkan oleh nyamuk pembawa virus dengue di Indonesia.[:en]Author : Prof. Intan Ahmad, Ph.D.

BANDUNG, SITH.ITB.AC.ID – The workshop “Advanced Dengue Surveillance Geographic Information System (GIS) Application” is an event series from the research collaboration of the New Southbound Policy: Taiwan – Indonesia Dengue Control and Prevention Program between the School of Life Sciences and Technology (SITH) Bandung Institute of Technology and National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) Taiwan, also the Bandung Health Office and the Taiwan Center for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) are involved. This workshop was attended by representatives from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Indonesian National Institute of Health Research and Development, Bandung Health Office,  Medical Faculty of Padjajaran University, and School of Life Sciences and Technology Bandung Institute of Technology. Workshop material was given by Dr. Ta-Chien Chan of the Institute of Humanities & Social Science, Academia Sinica. Due to the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the workshop was going virtually for 4 days, every Tuesday and Saturday starting from September 1-12, 2020. The workshop takes place from 08.00-16.00 WIB (09.00-17.00 UTC).

The opening of this workshop was held on September 1, 2020. Remarks were given by Dr. Chin-Hui Yang, as Division Director of Acute Infectious Disease, CDC Taiwan, followed by Dr. Endah Sulistyawati, as Dean of the ITB School of Life Sciences and Technology (SITH), and Prof. Wu-Chun Tu, as Project Principal of the Collaborative Research Project from National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) Taiwan. The first day began with a quick review of QGIS and Spatial Autocorrelation / Spatio-temporal Clusters. The second day was filled with learning material on Spatial Regression / Geographically Weighted Regression and Spatial Database / Network Analysis / Interpolation. The third day begins with the Geoprocessing Tool / Analysis Tool / Research Tool and continued with the Interactive Disease Map. On the last day, the workshop was filled with learning material on Spatio-temporal Modeling and continued with presentation and discussion sessions, then entered into the closing session by Prof. Wu-Chun Tu as Project Principal of the Collaborative Research Project from the National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) Taiwan and Prof. Intan Ahmad, Ph.D., as the Project Principal of the Collaborative Research Project from School of Life Sciences and Technology Bandung Institute of Technology.

This workshop will end on September 12, 2020; With the end of this workshop, it is hoped that it can increase knowledge and skills in the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) for surveillance of dengue fever-mosquito borne disease caused by dengue virus in Indonesia.[:]
