Unravelling the genetic basis of Fusarium seedling rot resistance in the MAGIC maize population: novel targets for breeding
The breeding of resistant maize genotypes may take advantage on the identification of quantitative trait loci (QTL) responsible for disease resistance. In this study, Dr. Popi Septiani and colleagues utilized the Multi-parent Advance Generation Intercross (MAGIC) population to conduct high-definition QTL mapping for Fusarium seedling rot (FSR) resistance using rolled towel assay, suggesting some QTL and candidate genes which can be used as target for breeding the FSR resistant in maize.
