Disentangling the taxonomy of the subfamily Rasborinae (Cypriniformes, Danionidae) in Sundaland using DNA barcodes
Subfamily Rasborinae is the most diversified group of freshwater fishes in Sundaland, one of the largest and most threatened biodiversity hotspots in Southeast Asia. However, uncertainties in their taxonomy and systematics had constrained its use as a model in evolutionary studies. In this report, Dr. Arni Sholihah and colleagues established a DNA barcode reference library of Rasborinae (DS-BIFRA) to examine its species boundaries and range distributions through DNA-based species delimitation methods which allowed us to trace evolutionary dynamics in Sundaland.
